Hello,

Do any pals have a copy of the above book? If you do, can you check it to see what the 2 entries for A. Jeffrey say. I am hoping one is for a chap from Wimbledon, who served with the Seaforth highlanders and was Killed in July 1916.

Many thanks,

Stewart

Thanks Grant,

The chap I am researching was Arthur Frederick Jeffrey, from Wimbledon. He was killed on the 28th July 1915 with the 5th Seaforths. I have found all the usual items ie, CWGC, SDGW, SNWM etc. Also his entry in his local newspaper. I was just checking to see what else is out there.

Many thanks for checking that for me,

Stewart

JEFFREY, Emily Daughter Single F 25 1886 Receiving Office Boots Wimbledon

JEFFREY, Arthur Frederick Son Single M 20 1891 Grocery Assistant Dealer Wimbledon

and with Dad in 1901:

There is also a William killed with the Seaforths (1339) in 1917 - maybe brother ?

Hello Grant,

Thank you very much for the above information. I have a copy of the 1901 Census, but had not seen the 1911 information. Do you know what address they were at in 1911? I wonder if William is his brother?

Many thanks,

Stewart

Sorry, thought I had posted it

84 Haydons Road, Wimbledon, S W London

Maybe some one can look on ancestry and see if they are brothers.

In post #5 you say 1915. CWGC say 1916 (as did you in #1 - sorry didnt check that one)

Hello,

Yes, it was 1916 when he died, he went to the front in 1915! I have checked and it is not his brother. Thanks for supplying their address. The All Saints' War Memorial gives it as number 86, I wonder if they moved, or that the Memorial is incorrect.

Regards,

Stewart

In 1911, No 86 is occupied by the Flower family

Also living at No 84 is a family called Tipping, 2 Parents, 1 son
