james-aitch Posted 16 April , 2010 Share Posted 16 April , 2010 Hi all, I'm in the process of reserach a solider Private John Ivor Heycock Welch regt, number 24573, who died at the somme August 1916, I believe he served with the 2nd btn, I manged to obtain his medal card, roll of honour and the war graves extract, i was just wondering if any pals happened to know the movements of this btn during the war, or any other further lines of research? many regards james Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Admin kenf48 Posted 16 April , 2010 Admin Share Posted 16 April , 2010 Soldiers died in Great War confirms 2nd Bn killed in action 20/08/1916 Entered Theatre (France and Flanders) 30/7/1915 1914-5 Star BWM Victory Westlake records the 2nd Bn "Moved to Quadrangle Trench under orders of 2nd Brigade (19/8). To Becourt Wood (20/8). Later to Mametz Wood and assisted 1st Northamptonshires in action at The Quarry. Took up position in old German line...(21/8)" During this period in the line which began on 27/7 and ended on 27/8 there were 267 Casualties.
