ForeignGong Posted 15 April , 2010 Share Posted 15 April , 2010 Hi Wulsten I would say the least they received was the French version of the Allied Victory Medal, which appear all the time on auction sites & all appear to be unnamed Peter
Michael Johnson Posted 15 April , 2010 Share Posted 15 April , 2010 There was also the Commemorative medal: http://www.france-phaleristique.com/images/1418ar.jpg also un-named. Soldiers who served in the Dardenelles and Slonika qualified for the Medaille Commemorative d'Orient: http://www.france-phaleristique.com/images/orientar.jpg Marc has a wonderful site at http://www.france-phaleristique.com/accueil.htm, but it is in French. If a man was killed or died on service he automatically received the Medaille Militaire and Croix de Guerre. Survivors were entitled to apply for the Combatant's Cross, which carried a number of privileges.
