tstewa Posted 15 April , 2010 Share Posted 15 April , 2010 Gday I am wondering if anybody knows if there are diaries etc for the companies of the 1/4th Gordon Highlanders during the Battle of Cambrai, especially the first few days of the Battalions action at Cantaing in 1917. Or if there are possibly any records of who was in which Company. My Great Grandfather was killed on the 21/11/1917 and after reading the Battalion Diaries given that most of the casualties were from D Company. Hope someone might be able to help fill in a few more details Cheers Toby
sotonmate Posted 15 April , 2010 Share Posted 15 April , 2010 Toby The War Diaries held at Kew sometimes have Company lists, but not very often ! I guess by now you will have seen those on offer by a couple of members here so they are probably the complete version (as opposed to some digital Diaries which don't always show all the Appendixes !) I am attaching a blog as you may not have seen it,it will be of interest if you haven't ! http://www.bedfordhighlanders.blogspot.com Best wishes Sotonmate
