Thiepval Monument Garriosn

Glesga Highlander

Recommended Posts

During the construction of the Thiepval Memorial To The Missing there was a small detachment of British soldiers garrisoned in the area for various military workings at the time. Does anyone have any information as to who these soldiers may have been i.e. regiment . battalion etc., Also, I believe that there was an officer in charge of them who had fought at Leipzig Salient with one of the Glasgow (Service) Battalions in the opening days of the battle of the Somme in July 1916. Any info regards this search and request will be gratefully appreciated.
