wesleycrabb Posted 15 April , 2010 Share Posted 15 April , 2010 Hello all. It seems odd, IMO, that all of the men shown are "of a certain age", but none of them are displaying any rank. Wes.

Raster Scanning Posted 15 April , 2010 Share Posted 15 April , 2010 Me too and fits with the ages. Not sure apart from the gentleman in question how you can deduce the rank of the others, except the one lone shoulder who could be any age.

lmcunningham1 Posted 15 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 15 April , 2010 Are you sure this isn't a "Best Moustache Show" photo? KevinBattle Posted 15 April , 2010 Share Posted 15 April , 2010 The background reminds me of Horse Guards Parade, but I suppose the bunker wasn't there then!
MBrockway Posted 16 April , 2010 Share Posted 16 April , 2010 Linda, Do a Forum search on Garter Star Usual Suspects - I think that should turn up a post I did a whiel ago that shows most of theese Garter Star-based badges in a side-by-side identity parade. I missed off the ASC though, and I think the Coldstream Guards (my post was about a badge that had an obvious scroll) so you'll have to check up on them yourself. tony paley Posted 19 April , 2010 Share Posted 19 April , 2010 Didn't WW1 Cheshire Badge have a scroll. The one in my collection has. Perhaps the greatcoats are a clue. Tony P
MBrockway Posted 20 April , 2010 Share Posted 20 April , 2010 Didn't WW1 Cheshire Badge have a scroll. The one in my collection has. Perhaps the greatcoats are a clue. Tony P Correct - it did. The scroll was only dropped after the war. Here's the link to the garter star identity parade that the search I mentioned would have thrown up: Cap badges based on Garter Star - the usual suspects (except East Yorks) ... and the East Yorks ... but as stated above, I only showed the garter star badges with scrolls as the badge we were identifying in that post had a definite scroll. This one here does not, so I was really posting the link so badges could be eliminated! Cheers, Mark
