MBrockway Posted 8 April , 2010 Share Posted 8 April , 2010 Looks like an animal with its foreleg raised maybe? 22nd or 24th Londons? West Yorks with the scroll hidden under the chinstrap? Buffs ditto? Cheers, Mark
Graham Stewart Posted 8 April , 2010 Share Posted 8 April , 2010 I would say 1st Bn, Monmouthshire Regt.

MBrockway Posted 8 April , 2010 Share Posted 8 April , 2010 Must admit my first thought was a dragon - Monmouths or Montgomery IY - but doesn't the Monmouths' dragon have his lifted leg almost touching his chin rather than held parallel to the ground as in this badge? That's why I ruled him out of my list I only have 2nd Monmouths in my image library though. Cheers, Mark
themonsstar Posted 8 April , 2010 Share Posted 8 April , 2010 I've gone back to the badge book I have, the 16th (s) Bn The Welsh Regt wear the same badge as a coller badge but the paw is down, on the Monmouthshire its up. The Royal Berkshire Regt, had a pouch badge which looks the same also.
dundeesown Posted 8 April , 2010 Share Posted 8 April , 2010 How about Brecknockshire Territorial Battalions S.W.B with the Brecknockshire under the strap.? Gary.
wulsten Posted 8 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 8 April , 2010 Brecknockshire, this could be a lead, found this image on the internet and does the uniform give any clues
MBrockway Posted 9 April , 2010 Share Posted 9 April , 2010 Here be dragons ... This is the menagerie of dragons from my image ref fiiles: A.B.C. D.E. A. 11th Border Regiment (Lonsdale Pals) B. The Buffs (East Kents) C. 2nd Monmouths (this one's an officer's bronze SD badge) D. Montgomeryshire Imperial Yeomanry E. Royal Berkshires Don't have a usable image of the SWB Brecknockshire Btn. Plus there's bound to be more Welsh TF units that used the dragon in their badges! Here's the 22 or 24 Londons as a comparison too ... HTH Cheers, Mark
wulsten Posted 9 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 9 April , 2010 Plenty to go on there, i dont think cross referencing the mic database with possible regiments would also work as i cannot see him serving overseas due to his age ?
