mjsl Posted 7 April , 2010 Share Posted 7 April , 2010 Can anyone provide any information on the activities and where about of the 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment during August 1918. I know they were part of the 2nd Bridage in the 1st Division and as such would have been involved in the 2nd Battle of Arras 26th August - 3rd September but I am interested in their acivities before this. Arthur PARK was in the 2nd Battalion and died of wounds on 24th August. He is buried in the Pernes cemetery and would have probably been treated at one of the casualty cleaning stations that were stationed at Pernes. The local paper records tat he "died on August 24th as a result of wounds received whilst in action. The wounds sustained were severe necessitating the amputation of the right arm and operations on both legs" It sound like he may have been wounded by a shell and it does not look like he survived too long after being wounded since CCS were not a place for long stays. So am probably looking for information on the 2nd Battalion round about 17-24 August 1918.
