BullerTurner Posted 20 June , 2020 Share Posted 20 June , 2020 I’ve just seen a group with Mutt and Jeff AND the SC medal with 1914-18 bar. I suppose it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that somebody served three years as a Special then was finally enlisted/conscribed near the war’s end? Anybody seen such a group? Like I say, it’s feasible but?
chaz Posted 20 June , 2020 Share Posted 20 June , 2020 (edited) there was a trio the other week I looked at with SC and bar, Ive only been able to find the SC and bar on a couple of sites. the regulations To qualify during the two World Wars a special constable must have served without pay for not less than three years, and during that period have performed at least fifty police duties a year, and be recommended by a chief officer of Police as willing and competent to discharge the duties of special constable as required. A bar, "THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918" was awarded with the medal to those who qualified. here is a pair plus https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ww1-british-war-medals-police-medal-168277164 Edited 20 June , 2020 by chaz
