Hi All

I have two boxed sports medals to Pte. A H. kitson which reads as follows:

In the field 1917

14th btl hants Regt

Cross country Race & Tug of war comptn

Runners up

D Coy Team

Pte A. Kitson

Could anyone be able to tell me where the 14th btl Hants was at that time

Thanks in advance

Bob.

They were part of 116 Brigade of 39 Division. From July (and probably earlier) they were in the Battles of Third Ypres, which they fought up to mid November 1917. They fought at Pilckem,Langemarck,Menin Road,Polygon Wood and 2nd Passchendaele.

You will find all of their movements in the Bn War Diary which is at Kew under WO95/2583,it will probably also mention the sports day,but maybe not the individual results !
