archangel9 Posted 2 April , 2010 Share Posted 2 April , 2010 Picked up this picture recently. I think these men are PoW's. The photographer's name is stamped on the back along with "Nienburg-Weser" so I'm thinking PoW's at Nienburg an der Weser camp. Also at least 3 of the men have stripes on their trousers. PoW issue? They appear to be from different regiments. The cap badge on the left looks like Middlesex, he also has what appear to be rectangular patches with a white stripe through them on his sleeves? The man in the back row second from right is wearing a darker uniform. Kitchener Blue's? Can anyone make out his shoulder badge? Also the shoulder badges of the man to his left? Any other information anyone can give greatly appreciated. Cheers John
centurion Posted 2 April , 2010 Share Posted 2 April , 2010 Once enough Khaki uniforms were available for the New Army etc the Kitchener Blues were collected and shipped out, via the protecting power, for use by POWs whose uniform, in which they had been captured, night be the worse for wear. Am I right in thinking then that the man in Kitchener Blue's might not be wearing the uniform of his own regiment? John
