Remembered Today:

16th Btn Rifle Brigade

Some time ago I purchased the War Diaries, recently I have got round to reading them. It seems that there are casualty reports for OR's in the 9th Btn Rifle Brigade. Have tried searching the NA site for the 9th's War Diaries but making a pigs ear of things and not getting any mention of WD's for any unit. I'm hoping that the two Btn's information has got mixed up at some point.

To get round to my question, please can some one steer me in the right direction on the NA site.

Old Holborn,

I see the NA still have not sorted this mess out then despite assurances that it would be remied. Sometime ago (nearly 2 years) I said the same thing and produced officers papers, medal rolls etc to show that the lists they have in the 16th RB diary are actually from the 9th RB, although a couple of the officers were London Regiment attached to the 9th RB. The NA agreed, giving the excuse that interpolating had occured, and, I am sad to see that despite assurances, from what you have said, this situation has not been remied, piss poor reflection on the archives and their attitude towards these documents to my mind.

The 9th RB diary is under WO95/1901 and is itself in a bit of a mess, I spent hours sorting some of this diary out which burns a lot of limited time whilst visiting Kew, and to date it has not been digitised.

The same occured with the 13th RB diary, fortunately I had photographed virtually the whole diary by the time they digitised it, and what a hash they made of it, truly remarkable that an organisation supposedly in charge of this nations history can take such a cavalier attitude.

Andy  and I also found part of the 1915 6/OBLI War Diary misfiled amongst the 12/KRRC War Diary. I informed the NA but I'd be surprised if it's been corrected <_<

Cheers,

Mark
