kildaremark Posted 29 March , 2010 Share Posted 29 March , 2010 With Medal Index Cards, Service Records and Pension Records now on line, later service records available to order and no doubt eventually to appear on line, the sources for researching World War 1 ancestors are running out. The Medal Rolls must surely be under consideration for putting on line. Soldiers killed are readily available on CWGC and SDGW but the wounded lists are are not that easy to locate but no doubt contain a wealth of information on many many men. The London Times records wounded casualties until mid-1917 when no doubt it just became too large a job to manage. Looking through the Times lists, they record name, rank, number early in the war and in 1917 also record the hometown. I have never seen the official lists to see what information is recorded. So, a few questions:- 1. Has anyone got a copy of one of the official lists so that we can see what information is recorded? 2. Where are these lists available? 3. How do we convince one of the major players in the ancestry business to scan these lists to make them available to a wider audience?
