Paul21455 Posted 29 March , 2010 Share Posted 29 March , 2010 I am looking into the death of a soldier who is buried in Lijssenthoek Cemetery. He died in No. 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station from wounds received, on 11th April 1918. Where was the No.2 Canadian CCS situated?

jhill Posted 29 March , 2010 Share Posted 29 March , 2010 For the interested, copies of the War Diaries of No. 2 Can. CCS are available here . The April 1918 period coincided with the German advance in that sector and on 14th April No. 2 would move back to ESQUELBECQ . Starting on 10th April things got busy at No. 2 as casualties from 9th Corps were switched to the REMY Group. On 11th April the station admitted (as near as I can make out!) 688 casualties and evacuated some 738. There were 21 deaths and 64 operations.
