Muerrisch Posted 26 March , 2010 Share Posted 26 March , 2010 I should know [thought I did] the answer ......... my sources suggest that RE went to 9 flames in 1922, but did they have 7 before that, and share the gilding metal and worsted versions on SD with Fusiliers etc? Priced Vocab suggest just the one pattern, does not specify number of flames. Any suitably detailed photos 'in wear' please?

stevem49 Posted 27 March , 2010 Share Posted 27 March , 2010 I thought that all RE's - Officers and NCO's had 9 flames and RA 7. RE's began using 9 flame grenade circa 1825.
Muerrisch Posted 27 March , 2010 Author Share Posted 27 March , 2010 thank you, I thought so too, but what I have read implies a CHANGE to 9 in the 1920s. I don't have much info. on RE.
