stuart714 Posted 24 March , 2010 Share Posted 24 March , 2010 Dear all Am starting next week (for the next few weeks) on searching the Inverness Courier newspaper for men from local war memorial and Seaforth Officers, but am willing to look for anyone else if required. Kate Wills Posted 24 March , 2010 Share Posted 24 March , 2010 Stuart, If you chance on any reference to army concert parties, please make a note for me. Much obliged, and happy hunting! Kate
Nigel Marshall Posted 24 March , 2010 Share Posted 24 March , 2010 Stuart, I'd be very grateful for any information relating to 63141 Sejeant Hector McMillan DCM, C Bty, 112 Bde, RFA. He died of wounds on 6 August 1917. His DCM was promulgated in LG 30346 dated 22/10/1917, with the citation being published on 26/01/1918. He was from Beauly. I don't know if it would be mentioned in the 'paper, but Hector McMillan was a Railway Clerk working for Midland Railway in Leeds. I'm trying to prove a link between him and the Sjt H McMillan named on 'my' War Memorial. If you see anything saying 'Scholes' or 'Barwick in Elmet', that would be like gold for me. Anything at all would be great. Thanks in anticipation, Nigel

Nigel Marshall Posted 24 March , 2010 Share Posted 24 March , 2010 That is a lovely looking memorial, Stuart. Thanks for the link. This is Scholes War Memorial, 7(ish) miles from Leeds, which also shows his name. Right hand column, 4th from top. Cheers, Nigel
