Guest SapperMoz Posted 23 March , 2010 Share Posted 23 March , 2010 I've recently found out my partner is related to Serjeant David Jones VC of the 12th Bn King's Liverpool Regt. I've tried to research as much as I can about how he was awarded the VC and ultimately how he died. I'd be really greatful if anyone could help in anyway. I'm particulary interested in the battalions movements between 1st Sept 1916 and 7th Oct 1916, the day he died. I belive he died at the western end of 'Rainbow Trench' during the battle of the Transloy Ridges. Does any one know where I could find a map showing the location of the trench? Any help or info would be greatfully appriciated.

John Milner Posted 23 March , 2010 Share Posted 23 March , 2010 He was awarded the VC for his acion at Guillemont on 3 September 1916, and was killed in action on 7 October 1916 during the 61st and 60th Brigades attack on Rainbow and Cloudy trenches. If you Google his name or the VC web site you will find the information you asked for. If you search the forum you will find a map of Guillemont and Rainbow Trench/Gueudecourt, any snags get in touch off forum I have all the info you want.
