The National Archive, Kew hold a diary for 235 Siege under the following ref:

WO 95/214 235 Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery 1916 Aug. - 1918 Jan

The only bit I can add is that the battery was part of the 89th Heavy Artillery Group, I Corps Heavy Artillery, Ist Army.

Clarkefamily06,

Though not apparent from his service records, I politely suggest you will be looking in the wrong place. The service number is mistyped and should read 64118, which is important, as this man Richard Scales was wounded to his thigh whilst in the service of 27 Sge Bty in Oct 1917 first.

“Quote: ..was he wounded twice..?”

He was certainly on another casualty list when with 235 a full year after the Oct 1917 wounding; I am not certain of the cause though, maybe even flu. Whatever the cause it was serious enough for his next of kin to be informed, and recovered to be discharged in May 1919.

The Oct 17 wounding was actually on the 20th, the result of a 4.2 shell falling on the number 4 gun of 27 SB at Ypres, putting it out of action. Seven gunners of 27 SB appear to be casualties, Scales among them.
