Hi All,

I have a marriage cert for a soldier 16/06/1916 which states,

OAS with ISE force. I know that OAS stands for( On Active Service)

but what does ISE stand for.

Mel.

Just did a search under military abbreviations for ISE and it came up with:

Intelligence Support Element

Intermediate Support Equipment

There's nothing on the LLT abbreviations page. Mind you, that page didn't have OAS on it either.

Imperial Service Establishment perhaps - that part of the Territorial Army (almost all of it) that had volunteered for Imperial Service (overseas service) and wore the Imperial Service Badge

BTW Ise was also an IJN super dreadnought!

This man was a 6th inniskilling reservist posted 2dg october 1914 (not territorial)

Mel.

Sigh - so why didn't you say so when Martin asked you what his regiment was!
