Alisondady Posted 17 March , 2010 Share Posted 17 March , 2010 Hi, I have managed to find the service records of my Great Uncle Harold who died from gunshot wounds at the 2nd Australian General Hospital in Wimereux on 24th April 1918. He was originally wounded on 17th March 1918 at Wez Macquart. Does anyone know if the RWF took photographs of individuals or battalions at enlistment and then kept photographs in an archive? My family seems to have lost the only photo they had of him and I would dearly love to find one - a long shot I am sure! Many thanks Ali
sotonmate Posted 17 March , 2010 Share Posted 17 March , 2010 Ali Most enquiries of this nature are referred to the local newspaper of the time in case he was given an obituary, and maybe a photograph was included. There are some publications around, such as Illustrated London News, which have many photos of casualties/gallantry award winnners, but this is a bit of a lottery. In Classic Threads here someone does Look Ups from that publication. Sotonmate
