Hi Nev. Is it possible that there has been an error in the dates?

Can only see one J Mooney for Irish Guards. KIA 15/09/16

Private John Mooney, Born Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Residence Riverstown, Co. Kldare.

On the off chance that Kildare is the link.

Edit: 17:16. I really should read the titles.

John Doyle 1st Bn Connaught Rangers. KIA 23/11/14

Born in Kildare.

Leinster Leader newspapers gives:-

Doyle, John. Rank; Private, Connaught Rangers. Killed in action, Flanders, September 1914. Born Monasterevan, Co. Kildare, Age 46.

Mooney, J. Rank; Private, Irish Guards. Died 1917. Born Monasterevan.

Kiplings "The Irish Guards in the Great War" gives Mooney, John 7391, killed in action 15/9/1916. The service records from Guards regiments are not on line as they are kept at the relevant Guards archive. The Leinster Leader gives the following:- Mooney, John. Reg. No. 7391. Rank; Private, Irish Guards, 1st Batt. Reported wounded and missing in 1916, later confirmed killed, France, September 15, 1916. Born Newbridge, Co.Kildare.
