machine gun corps man

dont know too much yet about machine gun corps most of my reasearch thus far has been on artillery men

starting to research private Edward Ainsley 10224 MGC

his victory medal card reads MGC 101 B6

does this mean 101st MGC, battery 6..i'm guessing..can someone enlighten me?

any help/information appreciated

anyone with a better search procedure than me can also let me know if any of his records exist other than medal card

They just mean which roll the card refers to

Sorry I dont have an Ancestry subscription, so I can't check if his records have survived but you could try this - http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/records.htm

Hi.it`s Medal Roll MGC 101B6 and it`s on page 608,you may get more info on that,but I think you have to go to the National Archives for that.( can`t see any records for your man on Ancestry but it was a quick look.).
