snailybailey Posted 15 March , 2010 Share Posted 15 March , 2010 Hi, I am researching Captain Robert William Gordon Grant of the 7th Manchester Regiment who was KIA aged 21 in My 1917. Am I wrong in presuming there should be a photo of him out there somewhere? Were all officers photographed as a matter of course? (unlike OR's). I am desperate for ANY information that anybody might have on him. Here's hoping Regards Glyn

ralphjd Posted 16 March , 2010 Share Posted 16 March , 2010 Glyn. His MIC is on Ancestry, if you want it PM me your home address and I will post it off to you. He was attached to the South Lancs Regt and his medals went to his father James Grant 17 Gardner Road Prestwich Manchester. In 1901 he lived at 9 Arthur St Prestwich age 5 with his family (father James mother Mary and a sister) his dad was an analytical chemist. Ralph. John_Hartley Posted 16 March , 2010 Share Posted 16 March , 2010 Perhaps oddly, there's no mention of him in the Battalion history (or any specific mention of the day he was killed). Best bet for a photo will be the local newpaper which, if memory serves, is held at Prestwich library.
