Verrico2009 Posted 15 March , 2010 Share Posted 15 March , 2010 Joe, You might like to register at "ScotlandsPeople" and conduct a free census search for 1901, as it comes up with 55 matches:- http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search/free/results.aspx A quick sweep of the 1911 census (doesn't cover Scotland, as far as I can tell) shows two Williams, one aged 40 in London and the other aged 27 and in the military. That much you can get on a free search. If you want more you'll need to subscribe, but they do have a 14 day free trial advertised. http://www.findmypast.co.uk/CensusPersonSearchResultServlet It's unclear whether you have the MICs or not (although I'm assuming not by lack of numbers) but you might want to order this one, despite the misspelling:- http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...Edoc_Id=1899362

Chris_Baker Posted 16 March , 2010 Share Posted 16 March , 2010 No other ranks service records appear to exist for any man named Center other than two in WO364 and neither are any of your four men. Alexander F Center was numbered TR/1/16075 - no address or other details on index card. Pte 8677 William Center, 1st Gordons, was taken as a POW. An address appears on his card: Joseph's Leon's card gives his name as Centeno. He was a Second Lieutenant, so his file should exist in WO374 collection at Kew. http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_detail...casualty=397200 gives a different pair of Christian names. No details on 307110 William Center's card.
