swab Posted 12 March , 2010 Share Posted 12 March , 2010 I've been told that the units were transferred to other regiments or demobilised........ is this so?
rflory Posted 13 March , 2010 Share Posted 13 March , 2010 During and immediately after the Great War the Royal Artillery was divided into two subdivisions: the Royal Horse and Field Artillery and the Royal Garrison Artillery, but in April 1924 these subdivisions were done away with leaving just the Royal Regiment of Artillery. Rockdoc Posted 13 March , 2010 Share Posted 13 March , 2010 Some units were disbanded after the Armistice as men were redeployed and demobbed but that wasn't confined to the Artillery. The War Eastablishment was far higher than was needed or could be afforded when peace came. Keith
