per ardua per mare per terram Posted 20 March , 2010 Share Posted 20 March , 2010 Maybe the War in the Air sub forum may be able to help.
makkem Posted 20 March , 2010 Share Posted 20 March , 2010 Hi Marco, You may know this already, but the online search of the German 'Kriegsgräberfürsorge' doesn't add much information: Walter LUBE (no BOD in the datadase); missing/dead 03.04.1916; rank Leutnant >> the only 'Walter Lube' for WW1 in the database Hans ZIEMSSEN (no 'Heinrich' or DOB in the database); missing dead 03.04.1916; rank Leutnant >> one of only three Ziemssens (with any Christian name) for WW1 in the database Not much I'm afraid... Jack Sheldon Posted 20 March , 2010 Share Posted 20 March , 2010 They both appear in Casualties of the German Air Service 1914 - 1920 by Franks, Bailey and Duiven London 1999 On p 185 Leutnant Hans Ziemssen Pilot FA 62 Killed Ecoivres Leutnant Walter Kube Observer FA 62 Killed St Eloi The places of death cannot both be correct, unless one or other DOW. On p 86 Kube's place of birth is given as Berlin. On p 170, Ziemssen's place of birth is given as Breslau. Hope that this helps a bit. Where were the stones located?
