charley_bourne Posted 10 March , 2010 Share Posted 10 March , 2010 Duke Of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment had those collar badges, I think. If I recall correctly (from visits to the Duke's museum in Halifax as a lad), it's the little 'howdah' on the elephant's back that distinguishes it from other regts with similar badges. keithmroberts Posted 10 March , 2010 Share Posted 10 March , 2010 The T for territorial is also clear on his shoulder. Keith
A_Phil Posted 11 March , 2010 Author Share Posted 11 March , 2010 Charley and Keith, Many many thanks for your replies, I must admit I had not noticed the "T" before. I will now try to find out if any family members served in the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. Phil

squirrel Posted 11 March , 2010 Share Posted 11 March , 2010 Sorry to sound obvious but is there anything at all written on the back of the photograph? Photographer's details even?
wizard2250 Posted 12 March , 2010 Share Posted 12 March , 2010 Being belt-ignorant, could there be a clue in the odd design of the buckle? shawn
Andrew Upton Posted 12 March , 2010 Share Posted 12 March , 2010 Being belt-ignorant, could there be a clue in the odd design of the buckle? It's the belt off the 1914 Pattern leather webbing - widely used by many units, so not much of a clue apart from a dating aspect.
DaveC Posted 15 March , 2010 Share Posted 15 March , 2010 Hi Phil I'm not sure but the shoulder title looks like T 4. Have you any idea where he was from, or family name Kindest regards DaveC
