Training Casualties?

I recently had cause to pass through Forest Town on the outskirts of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. This is a small ex-mining community, so I was surprised to see a lot of CWGC headstones in the local churchyard. On my return journey I stopped and made a note of the details. The local war memorial is also located in the churchyard, but I was unable to find any of the names, bar one, on this. The graves are mainly arranged in two parrallel rows, as you woul expect to find in a cemetery in France or Belgium. The only clue I have is that the next village along the road is Clipstone and I believe that a training camp was located in the vicinity of this village?? The dates run throughout the war and the graves include a VAD. It's possible some were flu victims, but as some dates are from 1916, there must also be another explanation for some of the deaths. Would anyone know if these people were killed in accidents or training accidents?
