I have just been given an OBLI sweetheart badge.

I know nothing about them apart from seeing them on ebay and would be grateful for any information anyone can give me.

Lesley - My girlfriend, Jean, collects sweetheart brooches (she got a nice early RAF one on Sunday).

She has joined the Military Brooch Collectors Club and has bought the 3 volumes of Pamela M. Caunt's books 'Military Sweetheart Jewellery'. These books are only about 50 pages long but are very good.

The ISBNs for the three are:

Volume I: 0 9523709 0 5

Volume II: 0 9523709 2 1

Volume III: 0 9523709 3 X

The contact for the Military Brooch Collectors Club is:

Tony Chadd, 2 Melrose Gardens, Clacton-on-Sea, CO15 5BQ, UK.

Hope this helps.

ps, don't get carried away. Jean started collecting about 10 months ago and now has about 200 sweethearts! :o

Lesley

While rummaging through some of my granfather's possessions I came across a brooch of the Star of David in red and green enamel with a silver miniature badge of the Gordon Highlanders at the centre. I found out (with some difficulty) that this is a Sweetheart Badge given by members of the Freemasons to their loved ones.

Regards

Jim Gordon
