Adam Llewellyn Posted 4 March , 2010 Author Share Posted 4 March , 2010 Would a Trench Mortar Battery have a diary? I've just discovered that Arthur Herbert Sterland 195527 RGA is my great uncle, and any information would be greatly appreciated. Regards. Llew. akduerden Posted 6 March , 2010 Share Posted 6 March , 2010 I think they were part of 8th Divisional Artillery, designated W Heavy Mortar Section. There were 4 sections, X, Y, Z sections being Medium Mortars. If I am correct then they would have been supporting 8th Division during battle for Villers Brettonneux and would have been located near the town as this was the *th Division's sector. kevinrowlinson Posted 6 March , 2010 Share Posted 6 March , 2010 I'm fairly certain they came under the Corp at this time of the war, and the link is correct. Kevin
