anniep Posted 23 February , 2010 Share Posted 23 February , 2010 Can anyone help me with these uniforms please. The man is my Ggrandfather who was born in 1877 in hants/berkshire borders. His name is George Paris. I know the second is WW1 and apparently he was invalided out after being injured in France, but I can find no record of him. The younger picture of him has me completely baffled as he was obviously very young, but cant find anything about a regiment. One suggestion was that he was a yeoman, any idea's would be very gratefully received Thanks anniep </a
Graham Stewart Posted 24 February , 2010 Share Posted 24 February , 2010 Top photo shows him in a scarlet infantry jacket, not cavalry or yeomanry. It belongs to a non-Royal regiment i.e. has white facings on cuff and collar and was worn from 1881 to around 1902 when a new pattern was adopted with pointed cuffs and some readopted their old facing colours for the collar and cuff too. A close up would be much better for us to look at.
