DaveMurphy Posted 13 February , 2010 Share Posted 13 February , 2010 G'day All, I would be very pleased if anyone could take a guess at what is written here. The man is question is my Great Grandfather Capt JT Ball, MC. The 16th Bn had just come under an artillery barrage at Maricourt on 13 Feb 1916. From what I can make out is says: " LCpl W RIDDICK name sent forward for good work on this and previous occasions. A number of men including the Regt M.O. (Capt FLETCHER) and Lt & QM Ball were prominent......" Cheers, Dave

DaveMurphy Posted 13 February , 2010 Author Share Posted 13 February , 2010 Thanks Mike, I thought it might have been 'rendering' and 'effect' and rescue makes sense since the previous sentence (unseen here) talks about four men buried and having been dug out alive. But the word after rendering doesn't cross a 't' like in other instances. Any other takers?? Cheers, Dave
