Tinhat47 Posted 7 February , 2010 Share Posted 7 February , 2010 I happened to see this photo on eBay of a man that claims he's with the 5th Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders. It certainly looks like the 5th's glengarry badge, but his sporran looks to be different that the usual Seaforth colors (black tassels on white horsehair), he seems to be wearing belled flashes and his kilt doesn't look like Mackenzie tartan. Did the 5th battalion have a different set up than the other Seaforth battalions or is it just a trick of the film type? http://i.ebayimg.com/09/!BleUCJ!BW...#33;vw~~_12.JPG

Joe Sweeney Posted 8 February , 2010 Share Posted 8 February , 2010 Matt, The 5th Seaforth's wore the No.1 (42) sett and same pattern kilt as the A&SH. In fact early war photos of this unit sometimes show Glens with A&SH dicing. I've never really studied Sporran's so someone else maybe able to help you.
