wainfleet Posted 6 February , 2010 Share Posted 6 February , 2010 Can anyone positively identify this? It is of typical construction for a Great War formation sign, but I suppose the odds are it's something a bit less exciting. At 50p I was willing to take a chance on it. Joris Ryckeboer Posted 6 February , 2010 Share Posted 6 February , 2010 As far as I remember from my time at the youth movement, this is typical Scouts badge because of the 2 stars. They have a significance, but I don't known what they mean. I was not scout but something similar. In fact, we were competitors and we were better! "Scouts" at war did have a similar insignia, but without the 2 stars. As far as I remember. I have nothing written to prove.
Joris Ryckeboer Posted 7 February , 2010 Share Posted 7 February , 2010 I've just remarked there is currently a "similar" topic : http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...=141707&hl=

wainfleet Posted 7 February , 2010 Author Share Posted 7 February , 2010 Thanks, Joris. I think it is now pretty conclusive that this is a Boy Scout badge. Oh, well!

wainfleet Posted 8 February , 2010 Author Share Posted 8 February , 2010 I know, I was awake the whole night bitterly regretting the two cans of Pepsi Max I could have bought from Home Bargains...
Muerrisch Posted 8 February , 2010 Share Posted 8 February , 2010 There never was an official cloth Army version of course ...... plenty of private purchases. The example shown is, I believe, doomed by the two little stars.

Ghost Posted 10 February , 2010 Share Posted 10 February , 2010 Ten bob down the drain. Not if you ply it on a well known auction site. Write a good story to accompany it and you will easily double your money at least. Alan
