R.M.L.I. Private {pre-war}

I have attached a photo of a Private, R.M.L.I., in pre-war uniform {no earlier than 1903}. I would appreciate advice on the colour of this uniform, and if possible colour of the trousers he would probably be wearing, plus the trouser stripe.

R.M.L.I.: red tunic, dk blue facings, thin red trouser stripe on dk blue trousers.

R.M.A.: Dark blue uniform, red facings, wide red stripe on trousers.

Would I be correct in assuming that the piping is white and the buttons are silver {RMLI}?

... Yep and nope...white piping on RMLI and yellow piping on RMA except, red down front of tunic.

Brass buttons for both.
