dutchbarge Posted 12 January , 2010 Share Posted 12 January , 2010 Hello, Can anyone tell me the difference(s) between a Staff officer's KC cap badge (metal, not embroidered) and a Royal Devonshire Yeomanry officer's cap badge? The lion on the Staff badge seems a bit emaciated compared to the one on the Devonshire badge, but apart from that I don't see much difference. Is it brass vs bronze, lugs vs tangs? size? Any help would be most welcome. Thanks. Cheers, Bill
max7474 Posted 12 January , 2010 Share Posted 12 January , 2010 Same design, same metals, same tangs. Just bear in mind that the RDY was about for 12 years and the staff one was about for 50 and there were thousands of Staff Officers and no more than a few hundred RDY. There were lots of makers so there is no way of telling by minor differences shown in books.

max7474 Posted 30 January , 2010 Share Posted 30 January , 2010 Bosleys recent postal auction (photo on their excellent website) indeed shows a bronze lugged badge with 2 voids as a RDY.
