andersehrnborn Posted 27 December , 2009 Share Posted 27 December , 2009 Hi I have been looking around for awhile, trying to find a detailed description of other troops at Salonika, other than the british. Does anyone here knows where I can find a French OOB for Salonika? I know there were Russians to, but not who they were? Were there others? River97 Posted 28 December , 2009 Share Posted 28 December , 2009 You could try this: Military Operations Macedonia There are also numerous divisional and Battalion histories with detailed exploits in Salonika. All of these are available from the Naval and Military Press. Cheers Andy.
corisande Posted 28 December , 2009 Share Posted 28 December , 2009 I know there were Russians to, but not who they were? Were there others? There were certainly also Italians, Serbs and Greeks. You can see their positions on this map http://www.firstworldwar.com/maps/graphics..._salonika_2.jpg
MartinWills Posted 28 December , 2009 Share Posted 28 December , 2009 There is very little by way of in print volumes on the Salonika Campaign, especially armies other than the British. One avenue to ongoing research is via the Salonika Campaign Society and its twice yearly magazine, The New Mosquito. The annual Armistice Ceremonies (at the end of September) involve contingents from Greece, Serbia, France, Italy and Britain. There may also be some Russian representation. SimonM Posted 28 December , 2009 Share Posted 28 December , 2009 "Gardeners of Salonika" by Palmer is also now back in print! It is old but still a very good overview of the whole campaign Simon
