Hello,

Only the piper's wore kilts. As for the head dress, glengarry's were the only form of headdress worn in service dress at the start of the War. They were found to be not too practical so coloured bonnet was issued, which had a khaki cover, this was a short lived form of headdress and was replace late in 1915 by the issue of the Tam o' Shanter Khaki Bonnet, which is a large floppy type of bonnet. However Glengarry's were still being worn right up until the end of the war, mainly by soldier based within the UK, but some soldier's did have them with them overseas and tended to wear them when out of the line.

There is a lot of information about this on the forum. A wee search should turn up lots of stuff for you.

Regards,

Stewart
