Today i passed near 's Graventafel.

I saw a Brit tourist's wife taking a picture of the man holding a shell.

It looked all very safe, it possibly was as it apeared to me it was a schrapnell 18 pndr.

I stopped, pulled over and friendly told them to be carefull.

They were a bit shokked, but they understood.

PLEASE people don't do this!!! even experts make mistakes.

I know because i had a lecture a few weeks ago of an expert of DOVO the Belgian ammunition disposal unit.

He showed us pics of Yperite blisters, awfull!!!

And yperite can be in 18 pndrs. too! You can't see it, even can't feel it.

It is sometimes a bit sticky that's all. You don't need a drop to have blisters.

First it is just itching, later it becomes red and then a blister.

And certainly stay of shells whit white oxidated nose cones. This is German junk and very dangerous.

I talk like a priest, but i am so scarred when i see people "playing" with old ammo...

If even the experts fail now and then!

We Flemish are sometimes much to easy and uncareful becuase we think we know the danger. But my vision is clear: STAY OFF!

thanks,

"father" kristof
