Soren Posted 1 December , 2009 Share Posted 1 December , 2009 Whilst looking for other soldiers by the name of Snead I happened upon these two young men, strikingly young: Name: SNEAD-COX, GEOFFREY PHILLIP JOSEPH Initials: G P J Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Second Lieutenant Regiment/Service: Royal Welsh Fusiliers Unit Text: 1st Bn. Age: 19 Date of Death: 20/10/1914 Additional information: Son of John Snead-Cox, of Broxwood, Leominster, Herefordshire. His brother Herbert Arthur also fell. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Panel 22. Memorial: YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL Name: SNEAD-COX, HERBERT ARTHUR Initials: H A Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Midshipman Regiment/Service: Royal Navy Unit Text: H.M.S. "Indefatigable." Age: 16 Date of Death: 31/05/1916 Additional information: Son of John Snead-Cox, of Broxwood Court, Pembridge, Herefordshire. His brother Geoffrey Phillip Joseph also fell. Soren Posted 1 December , 2009 Author Share Posted 1 December , 2009 I have just found this reference "Richard and Anne's grandfather, John Snead-Cox, married a young American 18 years his junior whom he had met at dinner party in Paris! They had four sons, Richard, Geoffrey, Herbert and Robin, but tragically three were lost in the Great War, Richard and Geoffrey in the same week at the ages of 21 and 19.
