keithmroberts Posted 1 December , 2009 Share Posted 1 December , 2009 If you are happy with your monitor, and there are some splendid new ones around, then you might look at Novatech. I have no shares in them. Almost any new PC will have oodles of storage capacity. Just look for plenty of operating memory. Of course its more fun to build your own. truthergw Posted 1 December , 2009 Share Posted 1 December , 2009 Why not just add another hard drive? An hour at the most assuming you have never done it before. Cost less than £50. Incidentally, I upgraded my box last Friday and am running Win 7 64 bit on it. I have had no trouble. I put in a new motherboard, quad chip, DD3 RAM and a 320 Gig hard drive ( 2 actually and win7 lets me run them as mirrors without a RAID setup). Less than £500 the lot. Owen Hales Posted 4 December , 2009 Share Posted 4 December , 2009 I,m looking to buy a new base unit and would like a bit of help ..............using an 8 year old Time machine XP Home edition .............................big family tree program .................... Before you make your choice, ensure that your FH programs will run on your new systems OS. Many old programs just will not. Owen Hales
