Waddell Posted 30 November , 2009 Share Posted 30 November , 2009 Just trying to identify a regiment of a soldier from a small hand coloured photograph that is too small to post. The soldier is wearing a black glengarry without any dicing, only black edging. The cap badge looks like a Camerons but the toorie is blue. I know London Scottish is a possibility. Any other possibilities for a black glengarry with a blue toorie? Scott.
Steven Broomfield Posted 30 November , 2009 Share Posted 30 November , 2009 Lodon Jocks are the only ones I know with a blue toorie. First thing my mum had to do was sew it on my glengarry (after she'd replaced all the white spat buttons with black ones, of course )
4thGordons Posted 30 November , 2009 Share Posted 30 November , 2009 I would beware about pinning any identification on colours in a hand coloured picture - sometimes considerable artistic licence is evident. I would rely upon he badge as much as you can. Plain glengarries were issued widely in the Great War even to battalions who in other circumstances wore diced ones. There are a couple of previous threads on this. Chris

I wasn't aware of the plain glengarries being issued in place of diced ones. I'll go with the badge. Scott.
