Guest Chris McAfee Posted 29 November , 2009 Posted 29 November , 2009 My grandfather, CQMS Johnston McAfee 6717 Royal Irish Fusiliers, died on 3 January 1917 in Salonica. He is buried in the Lembet Road Military Cemetery. He died of burns. We were advised by the curator of the Royal Irish Fusiliers museum in Armagh that the cause of the burns would have most likely resulted from the explosion of a harris stove. We are very keen to understand the full nature of grandather's incident and have searched every where including the internet for information on harris stoves to no avail. Would anyone have any information of pictures of a harris stove.
centurion Posted 29 November , 2009 Posted 29 November , 2009 Pressurised spirit stoves were in use (Primus, Lux, Optimus, Vesuvius etc). They could be lethal if mis operated or damaged. http://www.spiritburner.com will take you to a site that specialises in such stoves, register and post your question there, if anyone will know they will
