I haven't been able to check but I am pretty sure the British Medals Forum will have been notified.

I hope they get 'em back.

Eyes peeled here, but I'm a long way from Leicestershire.

Cheers,

Nigel

Were the medals stolen with other items of value from the house or were the medals the prime target?,its very sad that people can loose such irreplaceable items by low life out to make a fast buck.I'm just wondering were they stolen to order?,hopefully the family will be reunited with these medals

Found the original article and it isnt clear at all, nothing else is mentioned as being taken but that is not to say that it was just the medals that were stolen....

I dont which is worse a scum-bag thief with no conception of bravery,honour..who throws them away.

or a scum-bag "collecter"who wants them for his wall at any price.

Great news

From tonights (Wed 30th)Leicester Mercury

FAMILY'S MEDALS RETURNED

"A family's irreplaceable First World War medals have been returned-apparently by the burglar who stole them".

Mrs Barton, 66 was delighted when the medals were left in a carrier bag outside her home on Sunday.

"We're all delighted to have them back.It was probally due to the publicity in the newspaper and it seems the person who took them does have a conscience"
