I have today found an ancestor in my family tree who won the DCM. He was Sgt. John Huggan of the Royal Engineers Regtl. No. 66802. He was a Scot born in Hawick, Roxbughshire. I have a copy of his medal card but have been unable to find his service record. Can anyone help with any information please?

John Huggan - son of Janet - born 1900 - very young to make Sgt in RE. Only other John Huggan of Hawick looks like one born in 1898 - mother Margaret - still really young.

No, this John was the son of Thomas Huggan and Mary Stott. John married Miss Jane Pringle in 1915 and I beleive he survived the war.

Had a fair dig around alternatives and not turned anything up. As a DCM winner have you asked for a local press check. If he was living around Hawick then there is a chance the local paper would carry a piece.
