rflory Posted 21 November , 2009 Share Posted 21 November , 2009 Major John Mervyn Dallas Wrench, CIE Born in 1883, the son of John Mervyn Wrench Educated at Bedford School Employed by Indian State Railways in 1906 Married Elise, the daughter of E W Mackenzie Hughes in 1908 and they had four daughters District Locomotive Superintendent, 1910 Deputy Locomotive Superintendent, 1919 In 1921 became Locomotive Superintendent Employed by Great Indian Peninsula Railway in Bombay as Chief Mechanical Engineer in 1923 In 1925 he joined the Staff of the Indian Railway Board C.I.E. in 1929 Was appointed Chief Controller of Standardization in 1930 Served as a Major in the Indian Army Reserve of Officers in Mesopotamia from 1917-1919 Sources: Debrett's Baronetage, Knightage and Companionage, 1951; Kelly's Handbook to the Titled, Landed and Official Classes, 1956.
