albuera1811 Posted 30 October , 2009 Posted 30 October , 2009 Greetings, I purchase a DCM single a while ago which was impressed SPECIMEN (K/4396). The ribbon was attached with a slot brooch. Is this an indication that it was awarded to a foreign recipient, possibly US? Also, what, if any, are the avenues of research that could be pursued? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Michael
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 30 October , 2009 Posted 30 October , 2009 Those awarded to non UK/Commonwealth recipients are unmarked {unless of course privately engraved or impressed} what you have is a "Specimen" medals which were struck for Important Private & Government Collections,The Mint for Reference purposes,Museum Collections,as an example of the Award;etc; They are rare on the market{indeed one would wonder how such a thing should get onto the open market at all?}
