domsim Posted 29 April , 2004 Share Posted 29 April , 2004 I have been doing an archaeological survey on the coastal plain between Nieuport and Ostend, around the towns of Leffinghe and Slype. This was in the rear of the German line for most of the war and had 3 defensive lines built through the area. I need to get background information and have already got good information from the Public Record Office in the form of aerial photos and trench maps. Any information on the German side would be particularly welcome-epsecially any information on a large ammunition explosion at Fleriskot Farm. The present owner says his aunt was killed in the explosion as well as a number of Germans billeted in the farm. There is still a crater at the farm, which is stilled partially ruined. The explosion took place in (September?) 1917.
