RE: L/6848 Pte. Henry W. Turner, 17th Lancers

I wonder if anyone can provide any service or personal history for this man, including a likely enlistment date.

His MIC shows that he landed in France on April 20th 1915, which is about five months after the regiment arrived from India, so I am guessing he was not a regular. His MIC also shows that he was discharged on February 25th 1919.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Peter

You will probably get a bit more info from the original medal Roll in the WO329 series at Kew.

The letters and numbers on the MIC against Medal issues will relate to the specific Medal Rolls, against which may be shown date of enlistment. Some do,some don't. This has to be done on site at Kew,there are two key index folders which list the individual WO329 file numbers, which you then order from the store. You could ask in the Look UP section here, someone may be able to help. I was there two days ago otherwise I would have done it for you.
