Bob Chandler Posted 20 October , 2009 Share Posted 20 October , 2009 I am currently trying to find out more about Pte James DUFFY no.11119 who was killed in action 11th October 1917 & is commemorated at Tyne Cot. Does anyone have any information on the Battalion, particularly the action in which Pte Duffy died? Many thanks Charles p.s. his MIC is quite unusual, refers to scrappage of medals??? connaughtranger Posted 21 October , 2009 Share Posted 21 October , 2009 Hi The Battalion was moved into the front line of posts about 300 yards south of the Ypres-Staden railway, east of Langemarck in the early hours of the 11th, in readiness for the attack the following morning 12th October scheduled to begin at 5.25am It seems Pte Duffy would have been killed as a result of the heavy shelling experienced during that day Regards Martin
